Bradford Met. Council Candidate for Keighley East, May 2008
Vote for help for vulnerable people
If I am elected as a councillor for Keighley East I will call for services
for elderly and disabled people to be improved. The Conservatives who
rule Bradford at present would have already cut these services if it hadn't
been for pressure from Liberal Democrat councillors. I want to win so
that I can help other Bradford District Liberal Democrats fight these cuts.
We want the assessment time to be reduced. At present it can be as
long as two years. People need help more quickly and the help they
receive should not be cut.
Vote for a better way to challenge young people
I want youth services to be improved. I think that teenagers need
challenges and chances to develop their personalities. Young people
need a sense of danger. They should be given the chance to take part
in adventure in a controlled environment with proper adult supervision.
A culture of wrapping teenagers in cotton wool is bad for them and bad for
the rest of the community. It leads them to try out anti-social
behaviour instead of taking part in constructive challenges.
Vote for communities and post offices
I believe that people need to belong to communities. I deplore the
closing of local post offices because of the difficulties it causes
individuals and also because of the way it erodes communities.
Vote for the environment
I believe the environment should be looked after. Park Wood, which
lies in Keighley East, should not be destroyed for short term advantage.
I want to join Bradford District Council so that I can keep up the pressure
to protect Park Wood.
Vote for playgrounds
I want playgrounds in Keighley East to be great places for children and their parents.
Vote for rights of way
I want rights of way to be protected and not be blocked.
Vote for schools
I want all school buildings in the ward to be of the best standard.
Vote for Judith Brooksbank
As a Bradford Councillor I would be better able to achieve these aims for
Keighley East. If you agree with my aims then I would like you to help
me to achieve them. You can do this by voting for me on the 1st of May.
Don't forget, if you have a postal vote you need to post it before polling day ~
or you can even take it in to the polling station on voting day.

Unfortunately, that's hard to prove.
The checker linked above, for instance, fails almost every page on the site,
but when I follow up the "faults", so far, they have all turned out
to be warnings about issues that have been taken into account.

We use the automated checking tools above to try to make this Website accessible
but need help from someone who has a real sight disability to give us feedback
about practical use with a screen-reader - especially about problems. If you
can help, we'd be very glad to hear from you.

values of liberty, equality and community and in which no-one
shall be enslaved by poverty, ignorance or conformity." Preamble to the Liberal Democrat Federal Constitution, first sentence.
